Music on Main: Amy, Amy, Amy
Amy Amy Amy: Class, Sass, and Soul on Main Street
Music on Main hosts a sparkling evening of cat-eyed soul and troubled love as Portland musicians pay tribute to the music of the great Amy Winehouse. Local funksters the Way Downs will back up a murderer’s row of Portland vocalists including:
Miss Michael Jodell
and the Way Downs’ own Devon Detweiler
...on Amy’s biggest hits and finest B-sides, along with some specially curated deep cuts.
AMY AMY AMY joyfully delivers the sound and music of Amy Winehouse to her still-devoted fans. The Way Downs (Lorenzo Ciacci, Patrick Munson, Craig Maynard Scott, and Matt Sherman) enlisted some of Portland's greatest vocalists to interpret the full range of Amy's eclectic and original catalog of blue-eyed soul, jazz, and ska. Along with the Way Downs’ own Devon Detweiler, AMY AMY AMY features Laryssa Birdseye, Ms. Michael Jodell (The Faints), Erin Wallace (Sportin' Lifers, Sentiments), and Karyn Ann (solo chanteuse). The Way Downs baritone saxophonist Bruce Cunningham is joined by Joe Cunningham (Blue Cranes, Catfish) on tenor saxophone.
The show will be a celebration of her life and art, with a setlist comprised entirely of songs Amy herself wrote, recorded and/or performed over her all-too-short but brilliant career.
