Music on Main: Pascuala Ilabaca y Fauna
Pascuala Ilabaca and her band Fauna is one of the leading exports of young Chilean singer-songwriters. Her music is rooted in traditional sounds but incorporates shades of jazz, pop and rock gathered throughout her travels from such distant lands as India and Mexico.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Accordion-wielding Chilean songstress Pascuala Ilabaca and her band Fauna is a favorite on the new scene of young Chilean singer-songwriters. Ever since they published their first album in 2011, they have been invited to 12 Europe tours with more than 150 concerts and featured in numerous acclaimed music festivals worldwide including WOMEX, WasserMusic (Berlin) and Amsterdam Roots (Holland) in 2017 alone. Pascuala Ilabaca y Fauna has been nominated for Best Artist 2016 in Songlines magazine with Mariza, Seckou Keita and Lura and is frequently invited to perform in acclaimed venues such as the Berliner Philharmoniker. They are two time winner of the Independent Music Awards (USA, 2013 & 2015) and got selected as Top of the World in Songlines in March 2015. In 2016 Pascuala received the Pulsar, the most prestegious Chilean music award, for her last album Rey Loj.
ABOUT MUSIC ON MAIN
The Portland’5 Centers for the Arts and the ArtBar & Bistro are proud to present the 13th Annual Music on Main outdoor concert series from July 11 to September 5, 2018. The free concerts are held in downtown Portland on Main Street, between Southwest Broadway & Park Avenue, next to Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall.
On Wednesday evenings starting in July, Portland’5 takes advantage of the lovely summer weather in Portland to present the free outdoor concert series. The concerts feature popular local and regional musicians playing a diverse collection of music.
The free concerts are open to the public and run from 5pm to 7pm – tickets are not required. The ArtBar & Bistro will be serving seasonal fare and delicious libations starting at 4:00pm. Tables are for food and beverage patrons only and are available on a first come, first-served basis.
*Performers subject to change. In case of rain or extreme heat, Music on Main concerts will be held in the rotunda lobby of Antoinette Hatfield Hall, located next to Main Street at 1111 SW Broadway Ave., Portland, Oregon 97205.
