Noontime Showcase: The Bylines Quartet

The Bylines are lovers of the Great American Songbook and their original tunes are influenced by the writers and performers that have shaped popular music throughout the last century. With Marianna Thielen on lead vocals and snare, Reece Marshburn on piano and background vocals, Leah Hinchcliff on bass, and John Moak on trombone, the quartet packs a big sound into a small band, bringing jazz standards into the present moment and pairing them with fresh, story-driven tunes penned by the Marshburn/Thielen duo. The are alumni of the Johnny Mercer Songwriting Project and have opened for Randy Newman at the Britt Festival, played in venues across the country from Los Angeles to New York City, and worked as entertainers onboard the Star Clipper cruise ship that set sail from Venice, Italy.  In addition, they have self produced two albums and a run of concerts featuring their original work for the past two years in collaboration with Third Rail Repertory Theatre. The Bylines musical cocktail goes down easy, and emphasizes something that is so often forgotten when such prolific songwriters present their craft: listening to music is, above all, supposed to be an experience… and a fun one. The Bylines music endures.

This is the first of nine weekly, free Noontime Showcase performances as part of Summer Arts on Main, which feature a wide variety of performers and styles. Suitable for all ages.
