George Saunders

The 33rd season of Portland Arts & Lectures, presented by Literary Arts, features some of the most influential writers at work today. The new season opens with George Saunders on October 12. Saunders is the author of four collections of short stories, a novella, and a book of essays; his first novel, New York Times best seller Lincoln in the Bardo, was published in February 2017, and his most recent story collection, Tenth of December, is the winner of the 2015 Story Prize and the 2014 Folio Prize, and was a finalist for the National Book Award. Dave Eggers said, “George Saunders is a complete original, unlike anyone else, thank god… There is no one better, no one more essential to our national sense of self and sanity.” He is the recipient of a 2006 MacArthur Foundation “Genius” grant, and of a Guggenheim Fellowship, and he was named one of the 100 Most Influential People in the World by Time magazine in 2013.

Subscriptions to this five-part series are now on sale and start at just $90.
