Stumptown Stages

As the resident musical theatre company of Portland'5, it gives me great pleasure to welcome you to Stumptown Stages ninth season. We are excited to present a full musical season that includes two regional theatre premieres, a world premiere and a musical classic.

We begin our season with the musical version the 1980 hit comedy film, 9 to 5 by Dolly Parton. This musical is the first of two productions that we will be collaborating with our regional partners at Coeur d’Alene Summer Theatre. “Taking care of business” of this Portland premiere is New York director/choreographer Christian Duhamel.

Next up, is It’s A Wonderful Life with music by Michael Allen Harrison. This holiday favorite is an endearing take on the classic Frank Capra film. It's A Wonderful Life, which had its world premiere last year and is coming back for its second season, is directed by Tony Award winner, Corey Brunish.

Our next offering is the regional theatre premiere of Elton John and Tim Rice’s Aida. This award winning score features Nashville talent Joann Coleman as Aida. Aida once again teams the writing talent behind Disney’s The Lion King, in an unforgettable story of romance and betrayal.

Finally, we close with the award winning musical Ain’t Misbehavin’ - the Fats Waller Musical. Ain’t Misbehavin’ is the second collaboration with our regional partners at Coeur d’Alene Summer Theatre. This energetic and dynamic show features Julianne Johnson, reprising the role she originated on tour. Ain’t Misbehavin’ features great songs such as Honeysuckle Rose, The Joint is Jumpin’, Black and Blue, and I Can’t Give You Anything But Love.

Whether it’s family entertainment, stirring social satire, unrequited romance, or toe tappin’ melodies, this musical season has something in store for you! I sincerely hope you enjoy the shows and, as always, I thank you for your continued support of Stumptown Stages!
