About The Endless Dance

"The Endless Dance" is an exhibit of dance photography that showcases the interplay between light and movement.  In her collaboration with dancers, Jingzi Zhao manipulates light and exposure in camera to shape and enhance the emotional and visual impact of the movement, creating a rich and evocative experience for the viewer.  Her work aims to elicit imagination and a sense of wonder in the beauty of movement and what it conveys.

About Jingzi Zhao

Jingzi Zhao was born in Shanghai, living and working on four continents before making a home in the beautiful pacific northwest. She has been a professional photographer since 2005—photographing what she loves: people, dance, and stories.

In 2011 she lived in Argentina, where she was inspired by performing artists' passion and hard work. She shifted her work to focus on dance and theater, and started photographing productions at the Teatro Regio and the Teatro San Martin in Buenos Aires. After returning to Oregon, she continued the pursuit of dance and theater photography with many performing arts organizations in the greater Portland area.

Her dance photography work has been featured in gallery exhibitions and acquisitions in Portland and Seattle. She is a 1st place category winner and a two-time grand prize finalist of the Pas De Deux Dance Photography Contests. She is also a recipient of multiple project grants from the Regional Arts and Cultural Council.
