Metropolitan Youth Symphony’s January concert ‘Just Jimmie’ welcomes special guest Jimmie Herrod, America’s Got Talent finalist & guest vocalist for Pink Martini.

Jimmie Herrod will join MYS’ most advanced ensemble Symphony Orchestra to premiere orchestral arrangements of his original songs. While these pieces were originally written for piano and voice, student composers from The Authentic Voice student commissioning series collaborated with Mr. Herrod to expand them to a full orchestral palette.

Key repertoire includes:

• Orchestral arrangements of original songs by Jimmie Herrod, including Are You Lonely, Beautiful, I Love You, I Want To Run, Mouche, and Willow Bed
• she flies with her own wings by acclaimed Oregon composer and MYS artistic team member Kenji Bunch
• En la Alhambra by Spanish composer Tomás Bretón
• Alentejana: Suite no.2 by Portuguese composer Luís de Freitas Branco

Symphony Orchestra will perform the works from Kenji Bunch, Tomás Bretón, and Luís de Freitas Branco as part of its international tour to Spain and Portugal in July 2024.
