Mozart Masterworks Replace Works by Wagner and Strauss

Program update: There has been a change to the program for your upcoming concert, Wagner & Strauss: Stories Without Words. Works by Wagner and Strauss will no longer be performed as previously announced. Instead, the Oregon Symphony will be performing Mozart Masterworks, a concert featuring two of the composer’s most beloved masterpieces. Following the popular Overture from Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro, the timeless Symphony No. 40 in G Minor showcases the orchestra’s robust emotional and dynamic range.

The additional program will remain the same, with Principal Percussionist Michael Roberts performing Gabriella Smith’s mini-concerto for marimba, Riprap, and acclaimed Violinist Stefan Jackiw performing Schumann’s Violin Concerto.

Two of Mozart’s best-known and most passionate works are featured in this  exciting program. Following the mischievously jolly Overture from Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro is the timeless Symphony No. 40 in G Minor, which showcases the orchestra’s robust emotional and dynamic range. These beloved masterpieces will be featured alongside Gabriella Smith's new work, Riprap, performed by Principal Percussionist, Michael Roberts.
