One of the 20th century’s great concertos, Shostakovich’s First Violin Concerto exquisitely embodies the composer’s experiences in the Soviet Union in the 1930s under Stalin. Performed by our new Artist-in-Residence, Dutch violinist Simone Lamsma, it beautifully complements Debussy’s colorful, evocative Images.
